Content and Marketing Manager 

20 - 25 hours per week

We are looking for a highly creative and organised team member to plan and execute all content and marketing activities for Spice Pots.   

We have a clear organic growth plan for Spice Pots and using AI is a key part of this plan.  The power of AI for a small business is astounding.  This role requires you to have a keen interest in or experience of using AI for content creation and analysis. This is essential.  This is an incredible opportunity to learn to work with AI and grow your skills.  

The role will include the following:

  • Planning and writing blog posts (and recipes) for our site using SEO and keyword research.  
  • Planning, writing and executing automated marketing emails using Klaviyo.  
  • Creating weekly email campaigns for our growing mailing list.  The ability to - or urge to learn - segmenting mailing lists and using analytics to improve the list’s effectiveness.
  • Writing product descriptions for our website, Amazon and all other third party websites on which we are listed.  Keyword research and using AI is a key part of this.
  • Planning, creating and executing fun and lively social media campaigns for Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest.  Social media is, for us, a nice topping but not where the focus lies.
  • Creating artwork for all of the above.  We currently use Canva but experience in something similar works too.
  • Coming up with collaboration ideas to grow our mailing list
  • Using your creativity to come up with marketing ideas without a large budget.  We do not throw heaps of money at adverts.  Therefore, we have to come up with brilliant ideas instead!
  • Comfortable with soft sales, making connections with potential customers and partners; contacting other local businesses for collaborations; identifying and contacting potential stockists.

It is not essential that you are highly experienced in all these areas, although experience in some areas is preferred, particularly design, writing and being very comfortable with online systems.  Our focus is on your willingness to learn, your attitude and enthusiasm for the job.   It’s a great opportunity for the right person.

You will:

  • Love to learn new skills.  Guidance and training will be offered at all times (and the opportunity to improve these skills at external workshops and training days). These might include learning a new system; how to pull and analyse reports; how to use AI effectively; how to segment email lists; how to conduct the best research for SEO.
  • Love writing
  • Have an analytical head on you and be willing to dive into the stats to see what’s working and what’s not.
  • Be upbeat and sunny.  No doom merchants invited to the party!
  • Be detailed oriented, organised and solution driven
  • Be very comfortable navigating multiple different systems / platforms. They are not difficult and full training will be given.

Ideal but not essential:

  • An interest in cooking

An hourly rate will be agreed depending on experience.   The role is based in our premises near East Linton in East Lothian with some flexibility in working from home if desired.
