Green Chutney

Green Chutney is used along side many different dishes in India as it makes such a great accompaniment.  We think it's delicious with our Aloo Ki Tikki Recipe, which are effectively spiced potato patties fried in oil.  A comforting, moreish street food dish which makes a cracking starter or snack.   This chutney recipe keeps in the fridge for up to a week or you could freeze in ice cube trays so it's handy for another time.

Serves: 4-6
Prep time: 15 minutes
Method: Blender
Heat scale: 🌶️🌶️

Green Chutney Ingredients

1 large bunch of fresh coriander, around 60 - 100g
1-2 green chillies
2 garlic cloves
1/4 tsp cumin powder
1/4 tsp salt
Juice of 1 lime or 2 tbsp lime juice
Water for loosening
1/2 tsp sugar (leave out if you wish)

Green Chutney Recipe

  1. Add the coriander to a blender, stalks and all. Then add the green chili, garlic, cumin powder, salt and sugar (if using) and the lime juice.  Add 1 tbsp of water to start with and then you can add more to adjust the consistency.
  2. Blend to a fine paste.  As above, store in the fridge for up to a week or freeze in ice cube trays to use later.

This green chutney will make a gorgeous accompaniment to a number of other Indian dishes including:
