Warm, dappled sunshine; kicking shoes off & feeling soft grass under your feet; a big blanket laden with tasty bites... these are the happy memories of a picnic adventure!
There's lots of excitement involved when you decide to go on a picnic and, as always, the main priority should be to leave any stress behind for the day. Don't go overboard with a spread of picnic recipes, unless you're aiming for instagram fame. Some nibbles to start, such as Satay Sauce with crudities and breadsticks; followed by a twist on the usual sandwich option ~ try our Chicken Skewers in pitas below ~ and a couple of salads; finished off with a glass of wine and a lazy nap. It has the making of the perfect day.
Other than that, be savvy with your picnic set-up! Choose a spot where midges won't make you part of their all-you-can-eat buffet; if the skies look ominous, don't go too far from home, in case you need to make a break for it; and be sure to pack picnic essentials, such as a thick blanket, eating utensils and kitchen roll.
As long as you're a bit organised beforehand, heading out for a picnic can be a relaxed and enjoyable break from the usual.
