To celebrate all the wonderful food that is Scotland's larder, this week, we are showcasing our favorite Scottish / Indian fusion recipes. These are just some of the simple and tasty dishes that you can make with Spice Pots.
FROM THE SEA
Spiced Cullen Skink This is a fusion recipe from our Scottish Selection. A Scottish classic with an Indian twist! Warming and delicious, hearty enough to be a main meal. Serve with crusty bread smothered in butter.
Spiced Baked Salmon A simple spiced salmon recipe and a great option for a mid-week dinner. This can be on the table in 30 minutes so is included in our Express Selection. Serve with a green salad and some new potatoes for a delicious meal.
Tandoori Masala Fish and Chips A fusion between our traditional fish and chips and the flavours of India.
FROM THE FIELD
Pea and Potato Samosas This recipe is super easy (even easier if you have leftover, cooked vegetables). I mostly use filo pastry but you can use puff pastry. My kids love these and of course, you can change the filling according to what you have lurking in the fridge.
Vegan Potato Curry An easy vegan curry recipe. We used potatoes and peas but you can of course add any vegetables you have in your fridge. You could also add a tin of coconut milk if you would like a curry with more sauce. This recipe is super easy.
Aloo Ki Tikki (potato patties) These are small potato patties often sold at street food stalls in Northern India. A lovely starter or snack, served with chutney, raita or a simple salad.
FROM THE WILD
Goan Beef Curry Delicious, slow cooked curry from Goa. There are 10 different spices in this mix, so it is full of flavour but also quite a bit of heat. If you don't like it too hot, just use less of the Spice Pot! Please also see alternative recipes to use with our Goan Spice Pot - Goan Fish Curry and Goan Sweet Potato and Chickpea Curry.
Venison Bhuna Curry Venison is one of the most nutritious of all red meats and a good source of healthy protein. Meat from deer has been important to the human diet since prehistoric times.Venison has less than 2% fat – less than skinless chicken – and higher levels of iron than any other red meat. It’s also full of B vitamins. The richness of the meat works so well with our fragrant bhuna blend.
Barbecue Pork Tenderloin with Satay Sauce This is one of our family's all time favorite weekend lunches, in the summer on the barbecue or in the winter in the oven. The satay sauce is so yummy. Just add slivers of cucumber and spring onions to wraps and you've got an easy, tasty meal for the whole family.
Spiced Mince and Tatties A fun fusion dish, featured in our Indian Scottish Selection box. One of Scotland's favorite dishes, with an Indian twist!
All these recipes and more are available in our cookbook, which is available to buy here.
